Schrage’s ITA Regional Run Ends in Singles Final
October 23, 2017 | Women's Tennis
Princeton freshman Stephanie Schrage won five matches at the ITA Northeast Regional at Penn over the weekend, but top-seeded and 38th-ranked Gabriela Knutson of Syracuse kept the Tiger rookie from winning a sixth and the title in Monday morning's final.
Schrage's run is the longest at the ITA Regional for a Tiger player since 2012, when another New Jersey-native freshman, Amanda Muliawan '16, won the title.
Knutson won Monday's match 6-2, 6-4, completing a run that saw the Syracuse junior win all six matches in straight sets. The final was the first time one of Knutson's opponents won more than two games in any one set against her during the tournament.
The final draw is available here.
The Tigers have two more tournaments on the fall docket, beginning Friday at Vanderbilt's June Stewart Invitational and continuing next weekend at the LSU Fall Invitational.
