Kalhorn, Schrage Fall in ITA All-American Opener

Junior Nicole Kalhorn and freshman Stephanie Schrage battled 26th-ranked Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin of North Carolina State to an 8-6 defeat in the first round of the qualifying doubles draw Tuesday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The match was tied at 5-5 before the Wolfpack pair won three of the last four games to advance. Rogers and Wiktorin will need two more wins Wednesday in order to advance to the main doubles draw.
Kalhorn and Schrage were playing together for the third time with both previous times coming at the ITA Hall of Fame Grass Court Invitational in Rhode Island three weekends ago.
The ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Penn, is next up for the Tigers beginning Oct. 18.
