DeNunzio Pool Set To Welcome 17 Teams For 2017 Big Al Open This Weekend
November 29, 2017 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
The biggest weekend of the first half of the Princeton swimming and diving season is quickly approaching, as 17 teams (nine women, eight men) will fill DeNunzio Pool for the three-day Big Al Open, which starts Friday, Dec. 1, and runs through Sunday, Dec. 3. Each day will have a morning prelims session and an evening finals session, and diving will be held during all three days.
Both Princeton squads will be among the seven Ivy League teams in attendance (Brown men/women, Columbia men, Dartmouth men/women), and the Brown/Princeton, Dartmouth/Princeton, and Brown/Dartmouth dual scores will be taken from the weekend. The prelims will begin at 10 am on both Friday and Saturday, and then at 9 am on Sunday, while finals will be at 6 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 5 pm on Sunday.
The full weekend will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network (subscription required), and live results will be available throughout all sessions. You can find links for both below.
The Princeton men opened their season with a 3-2 record, including a thrilling comeback win over Penn the weekend before Thanksgiving. The Tigers took three of the top four spots in the 400 free relay to assure the sweep of both Penn and Cornell, while freshman Colten Young helped but the Tigers in a winning position by sweeping both diving events earlier in the meet.
The Tiger women also swept their Ivy League openers, topping both Cornell and Penn in Philadelphia. Princeton won the final five events of that meet, including wins for junior tri-captain Joanna Curry (200 IM, 2:05.83) and classmate Isabel Reis (100 fly, 55.09).
