March 10, 2017 | Men's Ice Hockey
Jackson Cressey had been named a finalist for the 2017 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year.
Cressey led all ECAC Hockey rookies in scoring with 23 points on five goals and 18 assists during this 2016-17 campaign. His 18 helpers ranked first among all rookie forwards and second among all freshmen in conference action. The West Vancouver, B.C. native has recorded nine multi-point games on the season, including a season-high four-point (1g, 4a) game on Dec. 3 vs. Rensselaer. He has recorded one game-winning goal and assisted on three game-winners in helping the Tigers improve to a 8-11-3 in conference play and a overall record of 15-14-3. He was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week twice (Dec. 6 & Feb. 15) and won the league's Rookie of the Month on two occasions (December & February).
He currently ranks ninth in the nation in points per game for a rookie with 32 points in 32 games, and is now 18th nationally in assists with 25.
Cressey's 32 points ranks fifth all time in Princeton hockey history in freshman points and is the most since Andrew Calof '14 had 33 in 2011.
Princeton faces Union in the ECAC Quarterfinal series this weekend. Game 1 is Friday night at 7 p.m., at Messa Rink.
