For bringing home Princeton's first NCAA women's épée title, senior Anna Van Brummen is the Suburban Transit GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.
Van Brummen had the third seed in the four-person championship draw after going 17-6 in the pool round and beat Notre Dame's Amanda Sirico 15-10 in the semifinal after teammate and classmate Katharine Holmes had already won her semifinal to make it an all-Princeton final. In a tough bout, Van Brummen topped Holmes 15-13. The finish earned Van Brummen her second All-America honor.
Van Brummen joins saber Eliza Stone '13 and foil Eva Petschnigg as Princeton's NCAA individual champions in women's fencing.
