Sivan Krems to Represent U.S. at Maccabiah Games
March 07, 2017 | Women's Tennis
The event will have 8,750 Jewish athletes from 80 countries in all, participating in 43 sports.
"I am honored and humbled by this incredible opportunity to represent the USA again in Israel," Krems said. "I competed four years ago in the junior division before my freshman year at Princeton and earned bronze in three events: singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. This summer I will be competing in the open division and I'm hoping to feed off of the training regimen and match experience here at Princeton to do even better this coming summer. With athletes coming from 80 countries around the world, the feeling of representing the U.S. in the opening ceremony was an electrifying and moving experience, and I am looking forward to the event again."
Krems has been playing primarily at second singles during the dual-match season that began a little more than a month ago and has split her time between first and second doubles.
"We are proud that Sivan has been selected again as a member of the United States team at the Maccabiah Games," Princeton coach Laura Granville said. "She is one of our top players, a fierce competitor and also plays with excellent sportsmanship, so we know she will represent our country very well."
The Maccabiah Games are set for July 4-18.
