Men's Tennis Team Defeats Penn on Senior Day

Postmatch Video with Tom Colautti
The regular season came to an end with a win Saturday for the Princeton men's tennis team as the Tigers beat Penn 4-3 at the Lenz Tennis Center.
Senior Tom Colautti was the last Tiger on court, rallying from second-set tiebreak loss to win the third set 6-2, delivering the match for Princeton.
The Tigers began by losing the doubles point and seeing Penn win the first singles match to end on court six, but Princeton bounced back with wins from Alex Day at second and Luke Gamble at third to take the lead. Penn tied it again at 2-2 with a win at fifth, but Kial Kaiser put the Tigers within a point of clinching with his three-set win at fourth, rallying from a first-set loss, before Colautti added the fourth point.
"It was great to finish the season on winning note, and I was so thrilled to see some of our seniors play great tennis for their last match at Princeton," coach Billy Pate said. "We didn't play our best in doubles and had to dig deep in singles, but it was another gritty effort today in getting a win over a solid Penn team. The seniors have meant a great deal to this program and have built a strong foundation for the future. We had some obstacles to overcome this season and played all year without the services of senior co-captain Josh Yablon. We didn't quite achieve the lofty goals we set for ourselves, yet I'm proud of how we battled through and won four out of five Ivy League matches to finish the regular season. It was fitting to have Tom bail us out of trouble once more today and he has always come through in those pressure situations."
The NCAA men's tennis tournament selections are set for Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET on NCAA.com, and the singles and doubles tournament selections will be announced Wednesday.
Order of finish: Doubles: 2, 1, 3; Singles: 6, 2, 3, 5, 4, 1
