Nixon Takes Junior Worlds Runner-Up in Bulgaria

Princeton freshman épée Kasia Nixon won runner-up honors at the Junior World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Wednesday, winning five of her six pool bouts and five direct-elimination bouts to make the final.
Nixon opened the bracket with a 15-9 win over Israel's Dar Hecht in the Round of 64, then defeated Israel's Nikol Gavrielko 15-14 in the Round of 32, Russia's Daria Filina 15-11 in the Round of 16, Armenia's Emma Poghosova 15-6 in the quarters and China's Nuo Xu 15-11 in the semis before Aliya Bayram defeated Nixon 15-9 in the final.
