Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 8-1 overall, ranked No. 7 in the latest national poll and are looking to stay unbeaten in the Ivy League as it hosts Harvard. The Tigers average 14.78 goals per game and limit teams to just 8.67 gpg. Ranked fifth in the nation in points per game, the Tigers average 22.78 points per game and have the third-best assists per game number nationally. Senior Olivia Hompe leads the offense with 50 points on 36 goals and 14 assists. Last Saturday in a nine-point game against Delaware, Hompe moved into second place in all-time scoring at Princeton and currently has 225 points. Freshman Tess D'Orsi is second on the team in scoring this year with 41 points, while junior Colby Chanenchuk sits third with 35 points. Five others are in double digits in scoring, including draw control leads Elizabeth George and Ellie McNulty. Defensively, Princeton is backstopped by Ellie DeGarmo, who averages 12.56 saves per game - the most in the nation and has the second-best save percentage in the NCAA at .592. In front of her, defenders Madeline Rodriguez, Amanda Leavell and Alex Argo lead the Tigers in caused turnovers and have 16 ground balls apiece.
The Series
Princeton holds a 30-18 edge in the all-time series with Chris Sailer's alma mater. The Tigers have won the last five meetings including a 6-5 game last year. Harvard's last victory was a 10-7 game in 2012.
Scouting the Crimson
Harvard is unbeaten in the Ivy League with a 3-0 record with wins over Yale, Columbia and Dartmouth. Overall the Crimson are 6-4 on the season, with three of those losses being by a one-goal differential - two in overtime. Senior Marisa Romeo leads the offense with 49 points on 35 goals and 14 assists. Sophomore Keeley MacAfee adds 24 goals and four assists, while senior Maeve McMahon has 20 goals and four assists and leads the team in draw controls with 48. Four other players are in double digits in scoring as well, including senior Megan Hennessey who ranks second on the team in caused turnovers (16), draws (25) and is tops in ground balls. Junior Meredith Brown is 5-4 in goal with a .408 save percentage and an 11.78 GAA, stopping 73 of 179 shots.
