Chang Joins Women's Golf Team from the Class of 2021
June 26, 2017 | Women's Golf
Southern Californian Anabelle Chang will join the Princeton women's golf program from the Class of 2021, head coach Erika DeSanty has announced.
The Tigers graduated Hana Ku and Jordan Lippetz from the Class of 2017, a pair that counts six All-Ivy League honors between them. Chang joins a returning group that includes three All-Ivy honorees in rising junior and defending Ivy League medalist Amber Wang and rising sophomores Maya Walton and Anabelle's sister Alison Chang, with Walton coming off a postseason that saw her become the third player in program history to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The group will lead Princeton as it looks to defend its 2017 Ivy League Championship next spring.
"Upon graduation of this senior class, we lost two of our top performers, and while we will have a strong group of returners, the addition of Anabelle Chang will be critical to our continued success and growth moving forward," DeSanty said. "She is comfortable shooting below par, being in a winning position and is passionate about being on a top Ivy program. Her drive, competitive spirit and joy for the game will complement our 2017-18 team."
Chang enters Princeton having claimed Hacienda League MVP honors after helping Walnut High School to four Hacienda League titles, two CIF Southern Section championships and a 2017 state championship. During her career, she won a CIF Southern Section-Northern Region championship and was named the San Gabriel Valley Tribune Player of the Year, the Walnut High School Female Athlete of the Year, a CIF Southern Section Scholar Athlete Award winner, an NFL Super Bowl High School Honor Roll Recipient and a Foothill Scholar Athlete Award honoree.Â
