Alarie Making A Tremendous Impact On International Stage

UDINE, Italy - Bella Alarie has made her impact known as the USA Women's Basketball U-19 2017 FIBA World Cup team is now in the medal quarterfinals.

Alarie has started all four games for USA and is one of seven players to average at least 8.0 points per game. She is second on the squad in rebounding (9.0) and has five steals.

USA wasn't really challenged in its first two contests in group play, running by Mali (95-58) on Saturday and China (91-51) on Sunday. In her first appearance on the international stage, Alarie just missed a double-double, scoring seven points and snagging eight rebounds. Against China, the rising sophomore put together a 10-point, eight-rebound, three-steal performance in 15 minutes.

On Tuesday, Italy pushed the U.S., taking a lead in the first quarter, 13-12. The U.S. took a 24-21 halftime lead before using a strong second half to take the matchup, 66-49. Alarie scored six points and had nine boards in the contest.

U-19 squad saved its most dominating performance for the Round of 16. The United States rolled over Puerto Rico, 104-46. In the game, the U.S. had all 12 players score, scored 56 points in the paint and outrebounded its opponent, 72-37. The team's 72 rebounds are single-game U-19 record. In that outing, Alarie posted nine points and 11 rebounds.

The U-19 team takes on France in the final game of the quarterfinals on Friday. France went 2-1 in group C, earning wins over Latvia and Korea. The medal semifinals will be on Saturday while the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal meetings will be on Sunday.
