Pompi '17 Signs with MK Lightning

The Milton Keynes Lightning has added a second Princeton Tiger to its 2017-18 roster as it signed Quinn Pompi '17.
The news comes one week after it was announced the Ben Foster '17 would join the team in Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom.
Pompi played in 108 games at Princeton. As a defender, he had 15 assists and two goals. As a senior, Pompi led the Tigers in blocked shots with 53 and tallied six points. He was a +5 in back-to-back wins at No. 10 Bemidji State, as he net his first goal of the season in game 2, a 3-1 game. Pompi had assists on two game-winning goals, the first against UMass on Nov. 13 and the next on against No. 4 Penn State at the Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 28. Pompi is a three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic honoree.
Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell had this to say "Pompi has good size, is an exceptional skater and keeps the game very simple and fast. His movement was great when I watched him and this really sold me on him. He moves well both with and without the puck. He makes good heads-up plays and is very good in 1-on-1 situations. He led his team in blocked shots last year and has strong compete levels. All the feedback I received was positive and about Quin, both on and off the ice. He is young and hungry to take the next step in his career after 4 years of NCAA and to build a professional career. We will do all we can at the Lightning to work with him on and off the ice, to enable him to make this transition. He's another solid addition to the depth in our growing roster and we are delighted to welcome him!"
