Natasha Skov Named Ivy League Player Of The Week & Suburban Transit/GPT Athlete Of The Week
September 11, 2017 | General, Women's Volleyball
As if the Princeton Women's Volleyball Class of 2020 needed to somehow get better.
Last season, freshmen Jessie Harris, Maggie O'Connell, and Devon Peterkin were All-Ivy starters on a Princeton team that dominated the Ivy League en route to the program's 16th title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. Natasha Skov waited for her opportunity at outside hitter while Cara Mattaliano '17 was posting her second consecutive Player of the Year season.
Skov isn't waiting any longer, and she certainly isn't wasting any opportunities.
The Oakland, Calif., native earned her first career Ivy League Player of the Week honor after averaging 4.1 kills and 5.0 points per set during a perfect 4-0 week for the Tigers. Skov had 21 kills, one short of a career high she set the previous weekend, in a thrilling 3-2 win over Seton Hall last Wednesday, and she recorded a pair of double-doubles during the Tigers' sweep of the Villanova Tournament last weekend. After a 15-kill, 15-dig effort in a win over Albany, she had a 16-10 performance to clinch the weekend title over UConn.
Skov, who also earned the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week honor, was named to the all-tournament team at the Villanova Tournament.
