Ivy Round-Robin Host Fencing Announces 2017-18 Schedule
September 14, 2017 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
The Ivy League Round-Robin fencing championships will come to Jadwin Gym for the first time since 2011 and is one of five events on the slate before the NCAA championship portion of the schedule begins in March.
Princeton's fencing teams will open the season Nov. 5 at the Ohio State Duals, followed by a Dec. 3 visit to the Vassar Duals before a two-month break from competition. Once the Tigers get back on the strips again in February, the Northwestern Duals, contested this year at Notre Dame, will host them on Feb. 3-4, one weekend before the Ivy League Round-Robin is held in Jadwin, Feb. 10-11. Princeton won both fencing titles last year, the men doing so for the second straight year and the women for the seventh time in eight years.
The teams will wrap up the regular season with the Feb. 24 Temple Duals in Philadelphia before heading back to the Keystone State two weeks later for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional, hosted by Lafayette. The NCAA Championships this year are at Penn State, March 22-25.
Princeton has taken home a top-four team trophy from the NCAA Championships in each of the past seven years, the longest active streak in the nation. The teams return a combined six All-America honorees from last season, including sophomore saber Maia Chamberlain, junior saber Sage Palmedo, junior épées Wesley Johnson and Michael Popovici, senior foil Thomas Dudey and senior saber Edward Chin.
