Princeton is 6-7-3 after taking two ties against the No. 1 team in the country St. Cloud State this past weekend. The ECAC Rookie of the Week Ryan Ferland was the first star of both contests, after he stopped 14 saves in overtime in Game 1 and made a career-high 43 saves in Game 2. Overall Ferland has a .919 save percentage - 12th best in the nation - and a 2.77 goals against average. The Tigers have seven players in double digits in scoring as they average 3.38 goals per game. Junior Max Véronneau has 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists, while linemate Ryan Kuffner has a team-high 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points. Centering that line is Alex Riche, who has 14 points. Senior David Hallisey and Eric Robinson add 17 and 13 points respectively, while junior defenseman Josh Teves boasts a team-high 13 assists and one goal. Also getting in on the action is sophomore Jackson Cressey with 15 points.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
With an 11-2 record, Cornell is ranked No. 5 in the USCHO poll and No. 4 in the USA Hockey poll. A 4-1 league record positions the squad fourth in the standings. After being idle for 28 days, Cornell posted a 6-2 win over ranked team Canisius on Saturday at home. The Big Red have the second-best scoring defense allowing 1.85 goals per game, while it is scoring 3.63 gpg for the fourth-best scoring offense. Four players are in double digits in scoring led by senior Trevor Yates who has 10 goals and six assist. Sophomore Jeff Malott has a team-high nine assists and three goals, while senior Alex Rauter and freshman Morgan Barron (NYR) have 11 apiece. Freshman Matthew Galadja is 8-2 in goal with a .908 save percentage and a 2.10 GAA. He will have redemption on his mind after he was pulled from the Princeton game in November.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate is 8-6-4 on the season, and after tying Princeton on Nov. 3 went 5-4 and has found itself in the national rankings, coming in at No. 17 in the USCHO poll and receiving votes in the USA Hockey poll. With a 4-1-1 ECAC record, they are tied for fourth place in the league standings, along with travel partner Cornell. The team's bread and butter is its defense, backstopped by Colton Point (DAL). Point has the fourth best save percentage and goals against in the nation at .938 and 1.90. The defense ranks seventh nationally, allowing just 2.28 goals per game. It's scoring offense however averages just 2.44 goals per game, ranked 48th in the nation. Sophomore Bobby McMann leads the way with 17 points on a team-high nine goals and eight assists. Classmate John Snodgrass has a team-best 10 assists and one goal for 11 points while junior Adam Dauda has six goals and four assists for 10 points.
THE PRINCETON/CORNELL SERIES
Cornell leads the all-time series with Princeton, 89-54-8, with the first meeting dating back to 1900-01. The Big Red have won the last six meetings and are 10-1 in the last 11 outings. Princeton's win was a 2-1 game on Nov. 7, 2014 - Ron Fogarty's first win as Princeton head coach. Earlier this year, Cornell took a 5-4 game, and had Matthew Galajda chased out of the net as Princeton took a 3-2 lead in the first period. The Big Red rebounded with three of the game's final four games in the last 40 minutes.
THE PRINCETON/COLGATE SERIES
Ron Fogarty is still looking for his first win over his alma mater, going 0-5-2 since he took over in 2014. The Raiders have are 7-0-2 in the last nine games, with the last Tigers win being a 4-2 decision on Feb. 8, 2013 in Hamilton. The last two games have been ties, including a scoreless game at Hobey Baker Rink in November. Colton Point made 43 saves, while Ryan Ferland made 36. All-time Colgate holds a 55-46-8 edge since the first meeting in 1935.
