Tigers Split Dual with Harvard, Yale on Long Island
October 13, 2018 | Men's Golf
The Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, N.Y. hosted the Princeton, Harvard and Yale men's golf teams Saturday as the Tigers stepped away from the usual format of multi-team stroke-play tournaments for match play against a pair of Ivy rivals.
Princeton defeated Harvard 6-4 and fell to Yale 7-3 as the teams competed in three alternate-shot rounds in the morning and seven single-player rounds in the afternoon.
The Tigers took two of the three morning rounds against Harvard but saw Yale sweep its three morning matches against Princeton, and in the afternoon, Yale won three of the seven against Princeton while the Tigers took two and halved the other two with the Bulldogs. Princeton took four of the seven afternoon matches against Harvard.
Evan Quinn and Guy Waterhouse tied for the most wins among Tigers, each taking three of his four matches, and Sam Clayman was close to that with two wins and a tie.
Princeton will make the quick turnaround to close the fall season and compete in Georgetown's Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Md., Monday and Tuesday.
