Princeton freshman Karl Poling will aim to spend as much of his fall break as he can at the USTA Futures event in Birmingham, Ala., beginning with Friday's qualifying draw.

The event, set to take place at the Highland Park Tennis Center, will begin with Poling in a 132-player singles qualifying draw. That phase of the event will last through Monday, and then the main singles draw will begin Tuesday and continue through next Sunday, Nov. 4.

Draws are available here. Poling is the ninth seed in the qualifiying draw, and the first of four matches he'll need to win to make the main draw will be against Mwendwa Mbithi Friday night as the second match on court following a 5:30 CT/6:30 ET match.

Poling has gotten off to a strong start to his rookie year, rolling up an 8-1 singles record, including a 6-0 start, a run to the semifinals of his draw at Princeton's Ivy Plus tournament, and a win in the ITA Regional Round of 64 before he had to withdraw due to illness.
