Balanced Effort Leads Princeton Past Brown 3-0
October 27, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
Sophomore Alexa Underwood had 10 kills, while seven other teammates had at least five, to help the Princeton women's volleyball team post an impressive 25-15, 25-16, 25-14 win over Brown Saturday night in Providence. The victory keeps Princeton one match behind Yale in the Ivy League race with two full weekends of competition remaining.
The Princeton offense was extremely efficient, hitting .419 for the match, including .500 in the clinching final set. Junior setter Jessie Harris had one of her most surprising statlines of her All-Ivy career; her 40 assists won't catch anybody by surprise, but Harris added six kills on nine attempts without an error. Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Maggie O'Connell had seven kills without an error, while senior middle Caroline Sklaver had eight kills in only 10 swings. Clare Lenihan added six kills, while Devon Peterkin, Natasha Skov and Nnenna Ibe each had five kills for the Tigers.
O'Connell led Princeton's net defense with five blocks, while Harris (15) and Cameron Dames (14) were the Princeton dig leaders.
Princeton returns to the road next weekend, beginning with a Friday night match at Columbia.
