O'Connell Powers Princeton Past Columbia
November 02, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
Junior Maggie O'Connell posted a team-best 13 kills and hit .522, while three teammates added double-digit digs, to lead Princeton to a 3-0 win in New York City over Columbia to begin the Tigers' final road weekend of the season. They will look for the Empire State season sweep Saturday at 5 pm when they take on Cornell on ESPN+.
The victory helps Princeton keep pace with Yale, which posted a 3-0 win at Harvard Friday night. The Tigers are one match back of the Bulldogs with three to play in the Ivy race.
O'Connell, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, had only one error in the match, as did sophomore Clare Lenihan, who had eight kills and six blocks against the Lions. Both Devon Peterkin (11) and Jessie Harris (10) joined freshman libero Cameron Dames (14) as Princeton's dig leaders, while Harris added 31 assists in the victory.
