Princeton Caps New York Sweep With 3-0 Win At Cornell
November 03, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball team kept its Ivy League championship hopes alive in Ithaca Saturday night with an impressive 3-0 win over Cornell. A hard-fought victory in the opening set opened the door for a convincing final two sets for the Tigers, who enter their final weekend of the season one match back of Yale, a 3-0 winner at Dartmouth.
The 1-2 punch of Maggie O'Connell and Clare Lenihan proved too much for the Big Red, who fell out of championship contention with the loss. O'Connell had 10 kills and four blocks while hitting .368, while Lenihan had 10 kills and two blocks while hitting .348, during Princeton's 25-23, 25-15, 25-18 victory. The outside duo of Alexa Underwood and Devon Peterkin combined for 16 kills and 12 blocks in the win, which improved the Tigers to 10-2 in Ivy League play.
Freshman Cameron Dames had 19 digs in the win, while classmate Grace Klepetka had five digs and three service aces in the win. Junior setter Jessie Harris paced the offense with 31 assists and added 11 digs.
Princeton will welcome both Harvard and Dartmouth to Dillon Gym next weekend for the final two matches in Ivy play. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
