Princeton Receives Votes in National Poll

Riding a seven-game unbeaten streak, the Princeton men's soccer team is receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches national poll.
The Tigers knocked off No. 22 ranked Cornell on Saturday in a 2-0 shutout to remain in first place in the Ivy League standings. With a 4-0-1 record, 14 points and two weeks remaining, Princeton has a one-point lead on Columbia and a five-point lead on third-place Cornell.
Senior Sean McSherry was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by Coach USA after scoring a goal and an assist in the win at Cornell. Junior goalkeeper Jacob Schachner was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week honorable mention team after making two saves including stopping a penalty kick at the close of the first half.
Princeton moved up to No. 2 in the Northeast regional rankings with its 9-4-2 overall record.
Checking in on the NCAA stats, the Tigers currently rank fourth in the nation in shots on goal per game (7.53), fifth in shots per game (16.67), ninth in goals against average (0.572) and 10th in shutout percentage (0.533).
Princeton hosts Penn in a pivotal Ivy League match on Saturday, Nov. 3. It marks the final home game of the regular-season and Senior Day.
