A bitter taste was left in the mouths of those in Red after Princeton took down top-seeded Cornell in the ECAC semifinals last year. Trying to exact revenge, No. 17 Cornell came out with a 5-1 win over No. 15 Princeton on Saturday night at Lynah Rink.

Cornell took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Mitch Vanderlaan and Beau Starrett.

Senior defenseman Josh Teves made it a one-goal game with a backhand on a feed from Ryan Kuffner early in the second period to make it 2-1.

Late in the third, the Big Red put the game away with nearly identical goals, coming out of the corner and finding space, in a span of 2:04. An empty-net goal in the final minute sealed the result.

Princeton's penalty kill was 5 for 5, while the power play which entered the weekend first in the nation at 42.1 percent, was 0 for 2.

Sophomore Ryan Ferland made 20 saves in goal for the Tigers, while Matthew Galajda stopped 19 for Cornell (5-3, 3-1).

Princeton (3-3-1, 3-2-1) will have to shake off the memories of this weekend before they travel to face No. 4 UMass next Saturday.
