Asom's Ivy Title-Winning, NCAA Bid-Earning Goal Nabs Ivy, SuburbanTransit/GPT Weekly Honors

Mimi Asom is the Ivy League Player of the Week for the third time this season and fifth time in her Princeton career, and she is also the SuburbanTransit/GoPrincetonTigers.com overall Athlete of the Week.

This time, Asom earned the honor for scoring the game's only goal, which came in the 31st minute of Princeton's 1-0 win over Penn Saturday night on Sherrerd Field. Princeton needed to win to gain a share of the Ivy League title and secure the league's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.

Princeton will find out its NCAA opponent and destination today at 4:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.

The goal also moved Asom to third place on Princeton's all-time career points list, now with 95. She was already third on the goals list, now with 43.

Asom also earned the honor this season on Sept. 24, after a hat trick against Yale, and on Aug. 27 for helping Princeton to an opening-weekend sweep of New Hampshire and Boston University with goals in each game.
