Eye on the Tigers
The Tigers are receiving votes for the second straight week and going unbeaten in their last eight games. With a 10-4-2 record the Tigers are 5-0-1 in the Ivy League and look to capture the program's ninth conference title. Princeton has gone unbeaten in the league just one time, in 2010 when it posted a 7-0 record. The squad is ranked 10th in the NCAA in goals against average, allowing just 0.595 per game and 13th in shutout percentage with half of its games resulting in shutouts. Offensively, senior Jeremy Colvin ranks ninth in the nation in game-winning goals with five. He is this week's Ivy League Player of the Week and has 10 points on the season. Senior Sean McSherry has 12 points on four goals and four assists and sophomore Kevin O'Toole has 11 points on four tallies and three helpers. They are part of the reason why the Tigers rank fourth in the nation in shots and fifth in the nation in shots on goal. Junior Jacob Schachner is 14th in the NCAA in goals against average at .69 and has a .783 save percentage.
The Scenarios
The Ivy League title may be decided before Princeton and Yale take to the field. Columbia will take on Cornell at 1 p.m.
* If Columbia wins, then Princeton needs to win to win the championship and the league's automatic bid. A loss or a tie would give both to Columbia.
* If Columbia ties, then Princeton would win the outright title with a tie or a wain. A loss by Princeton with a Columbia tie would still mean a co-championship - and the automatic bid for Princeton
* If Columbia losses the outright title and automatic bid is given to Princeton before it ever plays a second against Yale
Scouting the Bulldogs
Yale is 6-6-3 on the season and is in sixth place in the Ivy League standings with a 1-3-2 mark. Freshman Paolo Carroll and senior Nicky Downs lead the offense with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Each has tallied four goals apiece. Senior Kyle Kenagy and sophomore Aldo Quevedo chip in seven points each and combine for four of their team's six game-winning goals. Yale has utilized three goalkeepers this year with sophomore Tom Wallenstein earing 11 starts. He has a 1.25 GAA and a .737 save percentage.
The Series
Yale had a four-game edge on Princeton in the all-time series, one in which dates back to 1913. Following a string of four Princeton victories between 2012-15, Yale halted the streak with a 1-1 draw in 2016. Last year it was Yale coming out on top 1-0 in overtime.
