Matt Payne Named Honorable Mention All-America

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the second time in his career, Matt Payne has been named Honorable Mention All-America by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, the organization announced today.
Payne finished up his collegiate career with style, posting 77 goals, 45 assists, 49 drawn ejections, 22 steals and 15 blocks in 2018. His 77 goals led the team and were the second most in a single-season. His 45 helpers and 49 drawn ejections were second on the squad.
The senior scored a goal in 27 of 29 games this season, securing 19 multi-goal outings and 15 hat tricks. His seven tallies vs. Whittier (Oct. 27) matched his personal-high while also producing a six-goal performance vs. Cal-Baptist (Sept. 8). One of his best games came against No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer as he scored three times and assisted on six other goals.
Payne is the 10th player in program history to earn at least two All-America accolades. He graduates tied for second all-time in goals (254), second in assists (148) and as a two-time conference champion, picking up titles in 2015 and this year.
