PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers begin their first Ivy weekend road trip of the season as they travel to Yale (Feb. 2) and Brown (Feb. 3).
Â
Let's take a look at five things to watch out for during this trip …
Â
Bella Alarie: The sophomore has been even better this season after a remarkable freshman campaign. Prior to Princeton's three-week break, Alarie earned back-to-back Ivy Player of the Week awards and three in a one month stretch. She is first in the conference in rebounding (9.2), second in field goal percentage (51.9), fourth in scoring (15.8), three-point field goal percentage (43.2) and blocked shots (2.3) and fifth in free-throw percentage (80.0).
Â
Gabrielle Rush: Rush has been an added scoring threat during Princeton's winning streak. The junior is shooting 51.5 percent from beyond the arc during that span, going 17-of-33. A 35-percent shooter from deep last season, Rush made just seven treys in the team's first nine games. Yale is 299th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage defense (34.3).
Â
Princeton's Defense: The Tigers have held opponents to 34.8 percent shooting during their seven-game winning streak. The squad have posted a +10.1 rebounding margin and have created 15.9 turnovers per game as well during this stretch. Overall, Princeton is 14th in the NCAA in scoring defense (54.9) and has not allowed more than 55 points in any game during its seven consecutive victories.
Â
Yale's Defense: The Bulldogs are near the bottom in all of Division I in field goal percentage defense (312th, 43.1). Yale is 7th in the Ivy League in scoring defense (67.6) and three-point field goal percentage defense. Princeton scored 71.5 points a game in two wins last year vs. Yale, winning by an average 17.0 points.
Â
Brown's Offense: The Bears have one of the best offenses in the country (23rd) at 80.6 points per game. They also make a lot of three-pointers (8.8), good for 23rd in the NCAA. Brown has two of the top three scorers in the Ivy League in Shayna Mehta (19.6) and Justine Gaziano (18.6).
