Princeton Welcomes Ivy Rival Harvard To Open Five-Match EIVA Homestand
February 22, 2018 | Men's Volleyball
The Princeton men's volleyball team knew how tough its early-season schedule would be, and it believed those tests would have the Tigers ready for EIVA play.
They also know that they have to start proving that now. It may only be February, but the Tigers have dug themselves an early hole, and they need to use this five-match homestand to start climbing out of it.
And there is no opponent they would rather start that climb against than the only other Ivy League team, Harvard.

Princeton (1-10, 0-3 EIVA) will host both Harvard (1-8, 1-2 EIVA) and Sacred Heart (2-6, 0-3 EIVA) this weekend in Dillon Gym, a stretch that starts tonight against the Crimson. The Tigers swept the Crimson last season, including an impressive 3-0 win here in Dillon during the final weekend of the regular season. The freshman duo of Parker Dixon and George Huhmann — both of whom would earn All-EIVA recognition — combined for 18 kills in the win.
Huhmann, the reigning EIVA Newcomer of the Year, has remained one of the league's most dangerous hitters this season. He ranks fourth in the league with 2.97 kills per set, and his 3.8 points per set ranks third in the league. Classmate Greg Luck has taken a jump this season, especially in offensive efficiency; he currently ranks 10th in the EIVA with a .220 attack percentage, though Harvard middle Riley Moore leads the league with a .475 percentage.
Both Harvard and Sacred Heart were swept in a league road weekend at Penn State and Saint Francis last weekend, and the only EIVA win between them came on Jan. 27, when the Crimson scored a 3-0 win at Sacred Heart.
The Pioneers swept Princeton last season, including a 3-0 win at Dillon Gym in the season finale between two playoff-bound schools.
