Dixon Records 22 Kills, Leads Princeton To 3-2 Victory To Move Win Streak To 7
March 22, 2018 | Men's Volleyball
Sophomore Parker Dixon had the best match of his 2018 season Thursday night, and Princeton needed every ounce of it to extend its win streak to seven matches over a tough McKendree squad. Dixon recorded 22 kills and 16 digs, and he hit .500 during the Tigers' 27-25, 25-14, 19-25, 22-25, 15-11 win over the Bearcats.
Princeton, once 1-11 on the season, has now claimed seven straight victories, including two road ones on this spring break trip. The Tigers will go for the sweep Friday night at 8 pm ET (7 pm local) when it finishes its two-game series with McKendree.
Similar to the Tigers' win over Lindenwood Tuesday, this effort was dominated by the sophomore trio of Dixon, George Huhmann, and Greg Luck. Huhmann had 19 kills, five blocks and five digs, while Luck had 17 kills and 10 digs in the win. Junior Oboh added six kills, six digs, and three blocks, and he also served a career-best five aces in the win, while freshman Joe Kelly paced the offense with a career-best 58 assists.
Princeton seemed in full control after a 25-14 win opened a 2-0 lead, but the Bearcats battled back with two wins of their own to even the match at 2-2. An early 4-0 run in the fifth gave Princeton a lead it would never surrender, and late kills by Dixon and Huhmann secured the victory.
