Eye on the Tigers
Princeton is 4-4 overall and coming off of a narrow 17-16 loss to No. 11 Syracuse on Thursday. Half of the Tigers opponents this season have been nationally ranked as they head to Delaware battle tested. Freshman Kyla Sears leads the offense with 26 goals and 10 assists for 36 points. Her 36 points has her 11th all-time at Princeton in points for a freshmen and that's after eight games. Sophomore Tess D'Orsi is coming off of a career-high five goal game against Syracuse and now has 15 goals and four assists for 19 points. Junior Kathryn Hallett has 16 points, while senior Julia Haney has 14 points. Senior Colby Chanenchuk is second on the team in assists with 10. Senior Ellie McNulty and freshman Marge Donovan both have 30 draw controls apiece while senior Camille Sullivan and junior Elizabeth George are also targets. Junior defender Alex Argo has 14 caused turnovers, seven more than the next player and has a team-high 19 ground balls. Princeton has used all three goalkeepers this season with senior Mary Kate McDonough played the majority of minutes with a .430 save percentage and a 12.16 goals against average. Freshman Sam Fish has appeared in six games has a .475 save percentage and a 11.54 GAA. Sophomore Winnie Brandfield-Harvey made her first appearance on Thursday with a start against the Orange.
The Series
Princeton leads the all-time series with Delaware, 20-7 since it first began in 1975. The Tigers have won the last two outings including a 16-4 win in Princeton last year and a 7-6 game in Delaware in 2016. Delaware's last win in the series was 12-10 game in 2015 and they have not beaten Princeton at home since 1989.
Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware is 5-5 on the season and on a two-game win streak. The Blue Hens are 0-3 when facing ranked teams this season as they've taken on Penn, Stony Brook and Virginia Tech. Becky Gohsler sits atop the scoring column with 29 points on 18 goals and 11 assists. She is the team's go-to offensively and defensively as she leads the Blue Hens in draws controls with 44, caused turnovers with 23 and adds 26 ground balls. Mia DeRuggiero has a team-high 23 helpers and adds four tallies, while Sarah Bedard has scored 20 times and has four assists. Taylor Carpentier has started in goal in eight of nine games and has a .475 save percentage and a 12.67 GAA.
