Dartmouth Defeats Tigers to Close Ivy Season
April 22, 2018 | Men's Tennis
Dartmouth moved to 6-1 in the league with the win while Princeton fell to 4-3 with the loss.
"We fought hard today and made a surge to have a chance at the end," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "We just needed one more match to turn for us. Davey (Roberts) was serving for the match and Kial (Kaiser) had just split sets so we had some momentum. Dartmouth was very good on their home courts and they are deserving of winning the league this year. Nonetheless, we are disappointed we couldn't get the win today as it likely would have put us on the bubble of an NCAA bid. Today's result most likely ends our season, but we'll see how things shake out. Regardless, it's been a joy to coach the seniors while seeing them grow as players and people. We have a very promising future and we're excited about the new crop of players coming this fall along with the returning players who have made tremendous strides."
Dartmouth took the doubles point by winning the first two matches off court and after Ryan Seggerman got a point for Princeton with a straight-set win on court three, the Big Green won the next three singles matches to wrap to clinch the match.
