Princeton Suffers First Ivy Loss 6-3 At Yale
January 13, 2019 | Men's Squash
Freshman Howe Cheng remained perfect in his debut season and Cody Cortes won yet another marathon thriller for Princeton, but the Tigers couldn't pull off their third upset of the season Sunday afternoon in Yale. The sixth-ranked Bulldogs swept the top four matches en route to a 6-3 home victory over ninth-ranked Princeton.
Cortes won the match of the afternoon at the #5 position over Tyler Carney, and he did so after the disappointment of a 15-13 loss in the opening game. Cortes won games of 12-10 and 11-9 to grab a 2-1 lead, and he finished the match with an 11-8 victory. Cheng also dropped a tough opener at the #8 position, but he took control from there to grab a 3-1 win.
Princeton's third win of the day came from junior Gabriel Morgan, who topped Tiber Worth in four games at the #6 spot.
The Tigers will now break for finals, and then they will return to the court Jan. 30 when they host Penn at 5:30 pm.
