No. 3 North Carolina Defeats Princeton in ITA Kick-Off Classic Final

The final of the North Carolina site of the ITA Kick-Off Classic went to the host and third-ranked Tar Heels, who took the doubles point and the first three singles matches off court Sunday.
Princeton opened its dual-match season Saturday with a 4-2 win over Michigan State, which went on to beat VCU 4-0 Sunday in the consolation match. UNC put up a lineup with the nation's second-ranked doubles team and four players in the singles top 21, and the Tar Heels got one of the needed doubles wins from the ranked pair and one of the three singles points from Makenna Jones, who is ranked second in the nation and teams with Cameron Morra on the No. 2-ranked doubles team.
Brianna Shvets took her match against fourth-ranked Sara Daavettila at second singles to a third set, as did Nicole Kalhorn against 18th-ranked Alexa Graham at third.
With first-semester final exams in the books, Princeton will head to California for three matches beginning Tuesday at Santa Clara.
