EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton is 2-0-1 in its last three games but still has some work to do at 5-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the ECAC. The Tigers battled back from a three-goal deficit to tie No. 9 Penn State 4-4 at the Wells Fargo Center on Dec. 15 before sweeping Maine this past weekend. Senior Ryan Kuffner and Max Véronneau lead the offense with 20+ points. Kuffner has 12 goals and 11 assists while Veronneau has six goals and 16 assists. Seniors Josh Teves, Alex Riche and junior Jackson Cressey each contribute 12 points. Sophomore Ryan Ferland is 4-8-1 in goal and has a .911 save percentage and a 2.97 goals against average. Senior Austin Shaw has appeared in four games this season, is 1-0-1, and has a .933 save percentage and a 1.97 GAA.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
No. 20 Cornell has been idle since a 2-1 win over Harvard on Dec. 1 at Madison Square Garden. Although the team has had injuries they are 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the league. Senior Mitch Vanderlaan has 11 points with 10 points coming by way of assists. Junior defender Yanni Kaldis has four goals and five assists. Sophomores Cam Donaldson and Morgan Barron (NYR) have eight points apiece. Overall the Big Red scoring 2.73 goals per game (34th). Sophomore Matthew Galajda is 5-4 in goal with a 2.59 GAA and an .885 save percentage. Sophomore Austin McGrath has seen action in four games, while Galajda has been injured. He has a .913 save percentage and a 2.03 GAA. The squad's power play converts on 19.6 percent of its chances (10/51), while the penalty kill has a 76.7 percentage (33/43).
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate is 4-10-2 overall and at 1-3-2 in the ECAC are 11th in the standings. The Raiders returned from the holiday break with a 6-0 loss to Quinnipiac at the Nassau Coliseum last Saturday. Junior Bobby McMann has four goals and four assists to pace the offense, with sophomore Josh McKechney and Trevor Cosgrove following up with six points each. Overall the Colgate scoring offense ranks 58th with 1.19 goals per game. Freshman Mitch Benson has started in 13 of 16 games and has a .909 save percentage and a 2.94 GAA. Freshman Andrew Farrier has started the last two games and in goal and in five games this season has an .867 save percentage and a 3.87 GAA. The Raiders power play is 53rd at 12.7 percent while the penalty kill is 60th at 70 percent.
THE PRINCETON/CORNELL SERIES
Cornell won the first game of the season 5-1 on Nov. 17 at Lynah Rink to improve to 91-55-8 in the all-time series. Princeton's last win was a memorable 4-1 victory over the Big Red in the ECAC Hockey semifinals last year. The Tigers' last win over the Big Red in the regular season was 2-1 game during the 2014-15 season. Max Véronneau has eight points in eight games versus Cornell to lead all skaters.
THE PRINCETON/COLGATE SERIES
Princeton is looking to snap a three-game skid in the series with Colgate. The Tigers dropped a 2-1 game at the Raiders' home in November. Princeton's last win was a 2-1 game during the 2017 ECAC Hockey first round series. The Tigers last win over head coach Ron Fogarty's alma mater has been before he took the reins - back on Feb. 8, 2013.
