No. 8 Princeton Secures 7th Straight Victory, Disposes BU, 3-1

BOSTON – The No. 8 Princeton Tigers wrapped up a weekend sweep and collected its seventh straight victory with a 3-1 decision over the Boston University Terriers at New Balance Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers started quickly producing consecutive shots from Clara Roth in the first 90 seconds of action. Roth, later, got on the scoreboard as she tipped-in a shot from Emma Street in the seventh minute. Princeton did not allow a shot in the first quarter, recording eight total.

Sammy Popper tacked on to the Tigers' advantage when her direct shot off a corner got through in the second stanza. Roth snagged her second of the afternoon as she corralled a loose ball off a corner and whipped it in.

Princeton took a 3-0 lead into the break. They held a 15-0 shot lead and did not allow a corner. The home unit finally posted a shot 2:21 into the third quarter. The Tigers were trying to add on with a corner try right before the end of the stanza, but their two attempts were sent away.
Grace Brightbill was forced to save three shots in the first five minutes of the fourth frame to keep Boston University off the scoreboard. The Terriers registered a goal with 3:27 left as Kiley Gallagher dribbled through the right side and knocked it in. Princeton held BU without a shot the rest of the way to secure the victory.

Princeton heads on the road next week for a crucial Ivy League matchup at No. 14 Harvard (12 p.m.). Those two rivals sit at the top of the standings (4-0) while no other squad has more than two wins.
