Tigers Knock Out Top Two Seeds at ITA Regionals

The top two singles seeds at the ITA Northeast Regional at Army West Point fell to Tigers Monday, as Brianna Shvets beat top-seeded and ITA 52nd-ranked Samantha Martinelli of Yale and Zoe Howard beat second-seeded and 81st-ranked Sofya Golubovskaya of Syracuse.
Shvets rallied from a first-set loss to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-2, while Howard was two games away from winning when Golubovskaya retired 6-3, 4-0.
The two Tigers will play Tuesday in the semifinals, with Shvets facing ITA 64th-ranked Miranda Ramirez of Syracuse and Howard taking on Caroline Dunleavy of Yale. Play will begin at 10 a.m. with the winners meeting in the final, also set for Tuesday.
