November 15, 2019 | Women's Swimming and Diving
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – While the Princeton University women's swimming & diving team fell 163-137 to Rutgers University Friday, it produced several strong performances and earned five first-place finishes.
"Great effort from our Tigers," said head coach Bret Lundgaard. "We faced a very competitive team in Rutgers and they helped us get better today. We had a nice mixture of contributors, from some seniors through our group of freshmen. I'm enjoying how the team is processing all the racing we're doing. They're learning and adjusting week to week and we'll continue with that approach all year."
The Tigers swept the diving events Sophia Peifer won on the 1-meter board with a score of 282.90, an NCAA Zone cut, and Mimi Lin won on the 3-meter board thanks to her score of 304.35, which was also an NCAA Zone cut.
Shaelyn Choi earned a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke after touching the wall at 2:17.23 seconds while Ellie Marquardt finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.30 seconds, an NCAA B standard qualifying time. Marquardt also won the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:01.29 seconds.
