Mens & Women's Swimming & Diving to Host Penn & Cornell

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University men's & women's swimming & diving teams will host their first home meets of the season on Saturday, November 23 at 12 p.m. when they welcome the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell College to DeNunzio Pool.

Princeton Notes
Princeton's men did not compete last week and most recently competed in one session of a multi-session meet at New York University on Saturday, November 10. Princeton swept the relays as Derek Cox, Daniel Arris, Raunak Khosla and Charles Leibson won the 200 medley relay and Nicholas Lim, Owen Huang, Dylan Porges and Peyton Werner placed first in the 800 freestyle relay. Khosla also placed first in the 400 IM, Lim won the 100 butterfly and Jonathan Pollock finished first in the 200 freestyle. Nathan Yates also touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke for the Tigers.
The Tigers' women's program faced Rutgers University in a dual meet on Friday, November 15, and while they fell 163-137 they earned five first-place finishes. Princeton swept the diving events as Sophia Peifer won on the 1-meter board and Mimi Lin won on the 3-meter board. Shaelyn Choi earned a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke while Ellie Marquardt earned an NCAA B cut and won the 500 freestyle. Marquardt also placed first in the 200 IM.
Scouting Penn
Penn's men have a 2-1 record on the season so far and have already competed in a pair of Ivy League meets. On Saturday, November 9 the Quakers fell 179-121 to Columbia University in their season opener but bounced back in their most recent meet on Saturday, November 16 to defeat Brown University 157-143.
The Quakers and Tigers last met in a dual meet on Saturday, November 17 2018 and suffered a 179-121 loss. It was one of only two losses for Penn in 2018-19 as they finished with an 8-2 overall record and a 5-2 record in conference meets. At the Ivy League Championships they finished in third place with 1120.5 points
The Quakers' women's program is 0-3 this season and 0-2 in Ivy League competition. In their most recent meet, Penn fell 171.5-128.5 to Brown on Saturday, November 16.
The last time Penn and Princeton met in a dual meet was also November 17, 2018 with Princeton coming out on top 202-98. The Quakers finished fifth at the Ivy League Championships last season, scoring 865.50 points.
Scouting Cornell
On the men's side, Cornell is 2-1 so far in 2019-20 and 1-1 in conference meets. Taking on Harvard University and Dartmouth College on Saturday, November 16, the Big Red fell 185-113 to the Crimson but earned a 166.50-133.50 victory over Dartmouth.
Last season Cornell met the Tigers on Saturday, November 17 and fell 220-80 in Ithaca, New York. At the Ivy League Championships Cornell earned 701.5 points to finish seventh.
Cornell's women's program is 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in Ivy League competition. On Friday, November 15 the Big Red fell to both Harvard 201-94 and Dartmouth 169-131 in Hanover, New Hampshire.
The Big Red also faced Princeton on the women's on Saturday, November 17 2018 and suffered a 176-124 setback. At the Ivy League Championships Cornell finished eighth with 506 points.
