No. 2 Cornell Defeats Men's Hockey Team, 5-1
November 23, 2019 | Men's Ice Hockey
Though the teams were scoreless after 20 minutes, a four-goal second period helped lift No. 2 Cornell to a 5-1 win over the Princeton men's hockey team Saturday night in Ithaca.
Jake Paganelli had the Tigers' goal less than two minutes into the third period, but with a 4-0 lead heading into the third, Cornell answered less than four minutes later to regain the four-goal lead. The game saw the season debut of sophomore Jeremie Forget in goal in relief of starter Ryan Ferland, with Cornell taking a 3-0 lead with Ferland in net and getting the last two against Forget. Freshman Pito Walton had the assist on the Paganelli goal, giving the defenseman his third helper on the year.
The game was Princeton's last before heading to Northern Ireland for the two-game Friendship Four. The Tigers will face Colgate a week after tying the Raiders in Hamilton Friday night as the event opens in Belfast's SSE Arena, and Saturday's game will match Princeton against either Northeastern or New Hampshire.
