November 09, 2019 | Men's Tennis
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Despite another outstanding showing from the Princeton University men's tennis team duo, No. 15 Ryan Seggerman's and Payton Holden's run at the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) came to an end Friday in the quarterfinals.
Taking on Robert Cash and John McNally of the Ohio State University, the Seggerman and Holden came up just short 7-6, 3-6, 8-10.
"Despite their close loss today, I'm very pleased with Payton and Ryan's progress in putting themselves in the position to advance to the later rounds at national championship events," said head coach Billy Pate. "Today we didn't play quite as well as we wanted to, but Ohio State had a bit to do with that. Overall, our team has had an outstanding fall. We have two still competing at (Bosancic and Barki) at Wake Forest through Sunday and they secured quality wins today. We're excited to put our success and improvements to the test when the spring season opens in January."
Also in action for the Tigers was Thomas Bosancic and Justin Barki at the Wake Forest University Invitational. In doubles they overcame Carver Arent and Lucas Gueymard of Mercer College, 6-3.
In singles, Bosancic overcame Wake Forest's Eduardo Nava 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-3 and Barki defeated Furman Spencer of Duke University 6-4, 6-1.
