No. 7/7 Princeton Tops Dartmouth, 2-1
November 09, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
Maggie Connors' third-period breakaway goal was the difference in seventh-ranked Princeton's 2-1 win over Dartmouth to close the weekend.
The Tigers improved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the ECAC Hockey League heading into next weekend's trip to Union and Rensselaer.Â
Princeton opened the scoring just before the midpoint of the first period when Shannon Griffin and Annie MacDonald sent the puck cross-ice to Sharon Frankel, who fired it home from the inside the faceoff circle to Dartmouth netminder Hannah Humphreys' left.Â
Â
It stayed 1-0 Tigers for just more than five minutes until a CC Bowlby goal for Dartmouth tied it up, and the teams entered the third period all square at 1-1.
Less than four minutes into the third period, Connors intercepted a pass just before the blue line in Dartmouth's attacking zone and skated the rest of the way, finding the net behind Humphreys to retake the lead.Â
Â
Once the Tigers return home, it'll be Black Out Baker night against Clarkson on Nov. 22, with the first 500 fans receiving a Black Out Baker t-shirt. Admission is free.Â
