Lin Rallies For 3-Meter Title, Claims Diver Of The Meet Honors To Close Ivy Championships

FULL WEEKEND RESULTS
It would have been natural to expect Mimi Lin to feel the nerves Saturday night. After an injury-plagued first two seasons, she had never experienced the pressure of being in the mix for an Ivy League championship. Not only did she handle the pressure, she thrived under it; Lin rallied with a brilliant final dive to capture both the 3-meter title and the Rick Gilbert High Point Diver of the Meet honor to highlight the final day of the Ivy League Championships.
Lin, who capped a Princeton sweep of the diving events this weekend, helped Princeton post a third-place finish with 1177 points. Harvard claimed its second straight Ivy title, while Yale, Princeton and Brown rounded out the top half of the leaderboard.
Lin trailed Columbia's Brighida Rosendahl from the second round through the fifth, but the Lion diver just fell short of the 300-point mark after her final dive, which opened the door for Lin to provide DeNunzio one final thrill for the weekend. In front of both teammates and diving alumni who packed the home stands, Lin drilled her final dive and set off a raucous celebration when the 304.50 was posted on the videoboard.?? the dive that sealed the 3-meter diving title for @PUCSDT's Mimi Lin and gave the Tigers a clean sweep of the diving events. ???????

Lin highlighted a terrific 3-meter event for Princeton; sophomore Sophia Peifer made a big move late in the final to place third with 293.95 points, while junior Natasha MacManus placed fifth with 278.20 points. Sophomore Sine Scribbick, who excited the home crowd with a thrilling 1-meter win Thursday, won the 'B' final with 292.45 points, while senior Carolyn MacFarlane took 11th overall with 263.25 points in her final Ivy Championships.Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but it also makes the @IvyLeague title all the sweeter. Another senior who competed in her last Ivies was tri-captain Joanna Curry, who gave the crowd a thrill in one of the tightest finals of the meet. Curry tried to repeat as the 200 fly Ivy champion and went toe-to-toe with Dartmouth freshman Mia Leko, but it was the Big Green rookie who barely touched the wall first to win the title in 1:58.05. Curry, one of Princeton's top point scorers over her career, placed second in 1:58.05, while junior Elaine Zhou finished fourth in 1:59.09.
Sophomore Regan Barney, who won the 400 IM title for a second straight season during Friday's session, added a fifth-place finish in the 200 back (1:58.63), while junior Shaelyn Choi took eighth in the 200 breast in 2:15.64.
The 400 free relay of Izzy Reis, Lauren McGrath, Cathy Teng and Monica McGrath closed the meet by placing fourth in the final in 3:21.24.
