VOTE NOW!
Ten NCAA men's hockey student-athletes who excel both on and off the ice were selected as finalists today for the 2018-19 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate hockey and both Princeton seniors Josh Teves and Max Véronneau are among the final 10.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The finalists were chosen by national media from the list of candidates announced in the fall. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through April 8. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award recipients will be announced during the 2019 NCAA Men's Frozen Four®.
A mechanical engineer major, Teves led the nation's defenseman in points per game last season, averaging 1.06 points per game with 33 points in 31 games. Overall, he ranked 27th among all skaters including forwards. He was named to the All-ECAC Hockey Third Team as he guided his team to the ECAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament bid and was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team in 2018. In the classroom, Teves is on track to earn a certificate in Robotics and Intelligent Systems. He is writing his senior thesis on the design of eco-friendly hybrid engines, maximizing fuel efficiency, range and speed.
Teves was a candidate for the 2019 Hockey Humanitarian Award for his active involvement in community service efforts. This year's team captain, Teves leads the Princeton defensemen in scoring with three goals and 13 assists. He is second in Princeton history in points in a career by a defenseman with 81 points and needs just two assists to tie the record for assists by a defenseman, and is now in the top-10 in assists in career by any skater.

He led the ECAC Hockey Champion Princeton team in scoring with 55 points in 36 games. Véronneau was the national leader in assists per game and was on the Tigers' top-ranked power-play unit and a first-team All-ECAC selection leading the league in scoring with 37 points in 22 games.
A nominee for the 2019 Hobey Baker Trophy, Véronneau has 27 points this season on seven goals and 20 assists. He ranks fourth in the nation in assists per game (0.91 apg) and is 10th in overall scoring (1.23 ppg).
