The third of three consecutive tournaments in Florida to open the spring season for the Princeton men's golf team is this weekend as the Tigers return to the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular outside Orlando.
Princeton competed in the George Mason-hosted event last year, finishing ninth in the 14-team field, and this year's tournament features another large field. The Tigers and host George Mason will compete alongside Akron, Bethune Cookman, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Florida A&M, Illinois State, Indiana, Lehigh, Kansas State, North Alabama, Northern Illinois, Richmond, Wisconsin and two squads from Yale. The field includes six top-100 teams in Golfstat's rankings.
The field will play three rounds on the par-72, 6,793-yard course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., northwest of Orlando, for 8:15 a.m. shotgun starts both days with two rounds Saturday and one Sunday.
Princeton began its spring season with back-to-back weekends in February hosted by Florida and Florida State with Jake Mayer leading the team at the Florida tournament and Max Ting leading Princeton in the FSU event.
After the George Mason tournament, the Tigers will host the Princeton Invitational April 6-7 at Springdale Golf Club.
