Men's Volleyball Falls 3-0 To #2 Hawaii, Will Close Provo Trip Saturday vs. McKendree
March 22, 2019 | Men's Volleyball
One day after a thrilling near-upset of #8 BYU, the EIVA-leading Princeton men's volleyball team didn't quite have enough to push #2 Hawaii beyond three sets during the second day of the Provo Invitational. Junior Parker Dixon has 11 kills, five digs and three blocks in the match, but the undefeated Rainbow Warriors claimed the 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 win over the Tigers.
Senior Kendall Ratter added nine kills, two blocks and a service ace, while junior All-American George Huhmann added six kills, two blocks and two digs. Classmate Greg Luck led Princeton in both digs (7) and blocks (7), while sophomore Joe Kelly paced the offense with 30 assists.
Princeton made a strong push in the final set to try to extend Hawaii to a fourth set. Trailing 20-15, Dixon led a 5-0 Tiger push with a trio of kills that ultimately forced a Hawaii timeout. A combo block by Parker and Luck evened the set at 21-21, but Hawaii would take three of the final four points to win the match.
Princeton will conclude the trip Saturday at 2 pm local, 4 pm ET, with a match against McKendree.
