Patrick Brucki Named Princeton Athlete Of The Week After Leading Wrestling To Historic NCAA Finish
March 25, 2019 | Wrestling
Patrick Brucki, the sophomore co-captain who clinched some of Princeton's biggest team wins of the 2018-19 season, was the highest-placing Tiger at a memorable 2019 Championships, held last weekend at PPG Arena in Pittsburgh. One of a program-record three All-Americans for the Tigers, Brucki finished fourth at the 197-pound weight class, the third-best Princeton placement at NCAAs in more than three decades.
His effort earned him the Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week honor.
Brucki joined teammates Matthew Kolodzik (fifth, 149) and Patrick Glory (sixth, 125) as All-Americans last weekend, and Brucki joined Kolodzik to give Princeton its first set of NCAA semifinalists in program history. He led Princeton with 33 victories on the season, which also included titles at both the Midlands Championships and the EIWA Championships. Brucki went 4-2 at the NCAA Championships, and both of his losses were to wrestlers seeded in the top three.
