Princeton Battles Back to Beat Penn in Ivy Opener
March 30, 2019 | Women's Tennis
Rallying from dropping the doubles point, the 38th-ranked Princeton women's tennis team beat Penn 4-3 to open the Ivy League season Saturday in Philadelphia.
The Tigers fell behind 3-1 after Penn won two of the first three singles match off court around a Nathalie Rodilosso win at sixth, but Grace Joyce, Clare McKee and Brianna Shvets all won their matches between courts two and four to secure the win for Princeton. Shvets dropped the first set 6-1 and won five of the final seven games of the second set to force a third, which she won 6-3.
Princeton, now 12-4 overall, will head to Dartmouth and Harvard Saturday and Sunday for 1 p.m. matches next weekend as the Ivy League season continues.
