Saturday Update: Princeton Gets Set to Host Harvard This Weekend
April 18, 2019 | Softball
It'll be a battle of two of the top three teams in the Ivy League this weekend when Princeton hosts Harvard at the Class of 1895 Field. Due to weather, the schedule has been updated to play one game Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and a doubleheader Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Princeton enters at 8-4 in the Ivy, 12-19 overall, and Harvard is 9-3 in the league and 16-15 overall, tied with Columbia atop the Ivy standings. Admission to the weekend's games is free, and the games will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
ESPN+: Game 1 | Game 2 | Game 3 | Live Stats
The Tigers are hitting .315 as a team in Ivy League play with Kaylee Grant (.517), Allison Harvey (.432), Megan Donahey (.395), Keeley Walsh (.357), Mackenzie Meyer (.351) and Kaitlyn Waslawski (.306) all hitting better than .300 in Ivy play. Allie Reynolds, at 5-3 in Ivy play with a 2.92 ERA, and Ali Blanchard, who is 3-1 against the league with just an 0.48 ERA, have combined for 77 of the team's 81 innings in Ivy play. The Tiger pitching staff is holding Ivy foes to a .237 batting average and has just a 2.33 ERA in those games.
Harvard is hitting .324 against the league with seven players hitting better than .300 led by Rhianna Rich at .400. Katie Duncan is 7-0 in the Ivy with a 1.97 ERA, and Grace Krantz has a 4.94 ERA with a 2-1 record in the league. The two have combined to throw 72 1/3 of the team's 80 league innings.
Harvard swept last year's series in Cambridge, but in 2017, the Tigers swept a twinbill in Cambridge before the Crimson came to '95 Field for the Ivy League Championship Series that the Tigers won in two.
The weekend includes the final home games of the regular season for the Tigers, who will head to Cornell and Dartmouth the next two weekends to complete Ivy play. Princeton will recognize its five-player senior class of Mikayla Blaska, Grant, Alex Viscusi, Waslawski, Walsh and Riley Wilkinson at 2:05 p.m. before Saturday's game.Â
