Updated: Holden, Seggerman Earn NCAA Doubles Tournament Bid

After starting as the third alternates, junior Payton Holden and sophomore Ryan Seggerman have earned a position in the NCAA doubles tournament beginning Tuesday, May 21 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

The draw will be announced Sunday, May 19.

Holden and Seggerman, ranked 33rd by the ITA, played together only in the spring, earning a 7-3 record as a pair and 4-2 in Ivy matches, playing nine of the 10 times at the top spot. Ranked as high as 17th in the nation, Holden and Seggerman were 4-1 against ITA-ranked teams, getting two wins over Logan Weber and Andy Zhou of Harvard, who were ranked No. 33 and No. 37 when they met, as well as a win over No. 7 Charlie Broom and David Horneffer of Dartmouth, and a win over Columbia's 26th-ranked Jack Lin and William Matheson.

It will be the second time in three years a Princeton pair has competed in the event. Alex Day '17 and Luke Gamble '18 earned a bid to the NCAA doubles tournament in 2017.
