A Near Sweep of Major Awards for Princeton in Ivy League Lacrosse

The Princeton women's lacrosse team will head into the Ivy League tournament with the league's top attacker, defender and goalie.

Princeton's Elizabeth George was a unanimous selection as the Ivy League Attacker of the Year in a vote of the league's eight head coaches, while fellow senior Nonie Andersen was named the Defender of the Year and sophomore Sam Fish was named the Goalie of the Year.

Chris Sailer was named the Ivy League co-Coach of the Year along with Dartmouth's Danielle Spencer after the team's shared the league title. Princeton will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament, which begins Friday at Columbia.

In addition to winning their individual awards, George, Andersen and Fish were also named first-team All-Ivy League, along with sophomore attacker Kyla Sears. George and Sears were unanimous selections.

Senior defender Alex Argo, senior midfielder Kathryn Hallett and junior attacker Tess D'Orsi were named second-team selections, while sophomore defender Marge Donovan was named honorable mention.

George has had a dominant senior year, with 47 goals and 21 assists for 68 points, all of which were career highs. George, who also had a team-best 65 draw controls, is a first-team selection for the second straight year.

Andersen has used her ferocity and speed to become the league's best defender. Her numbers – 53 draw controls, 13 caused turnovers, 21 ground balls – don't begin to tell the story of what she's meant to Princeton during its run to a sixth-straight Ivy championship.

Fish led the Ivy League in save percentage, saves per game and total saves while playing all but six minutes of the regular season. She was a second-team All-Ivy League pick a year ago as a freshman.

Sears was named a first-team All-Ivy selection for the second straight year. The sophomore leads Princeton with 71 points, on 44 goals and 27 assists.

Argo was a first-team All-Ivy pick as a junior, and she continued to give Princeton a great cover defender on a defense that ranks second in the league.

D'Orsi leads Princeton with 49 goals and is third with 62 points. She is a now three-time All-Ivy League selection.

Hallett has 25 goals for the season and joined George, D'Orsi and Sears in reaching the 100-point mark for her career.

Donovan leads Princeton with 23 caused turnovers and 37 ground balls.
