IRA Sets Women's Lightweight Field For National Championship Regatta
May 21, 2019 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) announced their selections for the 2019 IRA National Championship Regatta (May 31-June 2).
The women's lightweight V8 group will be in lane two of a heat that features Stanford, BU, Harvard, Wisconsin, Georgetown and MIT. The V4+ team is in lane one of its race followed by Harvard, Stanford, MIT, BU, Georgetown and Wisconsin. The doubles unit is settled in lane two.
Earlier this month, the V8 squad won its first gold medal at the Eastern Sprints since 2011. The Tigers were also second in the team points behind BU.
Princeton placed third at last year's IRA regatta. The finish marked only the second time in a decade that Princeton earned V8 medals at back-to-back IRA Championships (2010-11 was the first). The Tigers have now medaled at three of the last four IRAs, something that hasn't happened in more than a decade.
